Product Overview

The Honeywell RAE Systems C03-0912-003 is the 10.6 eV photoionization detector (PID) sensor for the pumped MultiRAE Lite multi-gas monitor. It measures volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from 1 to 1,000 ppm (isobutylene equivalent) at 1 ppm resolution. Honeywell lists it as the "PID, LR" (low-range) sensor for the MultiRAE Lite pumped configuration.

Check your instrument before ordering. This sensor is for the MultiRAE Lite (pumped) only. It is not the sensor for the standard MultiRAE or the MultiRAE Pro. MultiRAE and MultiRAE Pro owners need the high-range PID sensor C03-0912-002 (0.1 to 5,000 ppm, 0.1 ppm resolution).

Key Features

  • Integrated sensor and lamp: The MultiRAE PID module contains both the 10.6 eV UV lamp and the sensor, so it is replaced as one plug-in unit.
  • Simple 2-point calibration: Zero in fresh air or dry air and span with 100 ppm isobutylene. The MultiRAE Lite PID sensor supports 2-point calibration only; 3-point calibration is not available on this sensor.
  • Field-serviceable: The module cap can be removed with the RAE PID sensor removal tool (G02-0306-003) so the sensor electrode panel and lamp window can be cleaned with isopropanol or methanol lamp cleaner. Honeywell advises replacing the module if the lamp does not light or the sensor repeatedly fails calibration.
  • Automatic PID cleaning: When the instrument is charging in a desktop cradle, truck mount, or AutoRAE 2 cradle (not the travel charger), the lamp runs for two hours to burn off contaminants, then the pump purges the gas plate.

Specifications

  • Sensor type: Photoionization detector (PID), low range
  • Lamp energy: 10.6 eV
  • Gases detected: VOCs (isobutylene-calibrated, with correction factors for other compounds)
  • Range: 1 to 1,000 ppm (isobutylene equivalent)
  • Resolution: 1 ppm
  • Response time (T90): 15 seconds
  • Bias / equilibration: No bias; allow 10 minutes after installation
  • Zero drift: <10% signal/day
  • Span drift: <10% signal/day
  • Calibration gas: 100 ppm isobutylene (span); zero in fresh air or dry air
  • Storage life: 3 months in sealed container
  • Operating life: 1 year in air
  • Warranty: 1 year from date of shipment

Always calibrate the instrument after installing a new PID sensor. Use 100 ppm isobutylene calibration gas with Teflon tubing for PID calibration and bump testing.

Compatible Instruments

  • Honeywell RAE Systems MultiRAE Lite, pumped version only

Not compatible: MultiRAE Lite diffusion units (the PID requires a pumped configuration), the standard MultiRAE, and the MultiRAE Pro. For the MultiRAE and MultiRAE Pro, order C03-0912-002.
