Product Overview

The Honeywell RAE Systems C03-0912-002 is the high-range 10.6 eV photoionization detector (PID) sensor for the MultiRAE and MultiRAE Pro pumped multi-gas monitors. It measures volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from 0.1 to 5,000 ppm (isobutylene equivalent) at 0.1 ppm resolution. Honeywell lists it as the "PID, HR" (high-range) sensor for the MultiRAE family.

Key Features

  • Integrated sensor and lamp: The MultiRAE PID module contains both the 10.6 eV UV lamp and the sensor, so it is replaced as one plug-in unit.
  • Wide measuring range: 0.1 to 5,000 ppm with 0.1 ppm resolution covers low-level exposure monitoring and high-concentration readings with one sensor.
  • Optional 3-point calibration: Standard calibration is fresh-air zero plus a 100 ppm isobutylene span. MultiRAE and MultiRAE Pro instruments with this sensor can also use a third calibration point at 1,000 ppm isobutylene for better linearity at higher concentrations. 3-point calibration is off by default and is enabled with Honeywell Safety Suite Device Configurator (SSDC) software.
  • Field-serviceable: The module cap can be removed with the RAE PID sensor removal tool (G02-0306-003) so the sensor electrode panel and lamp window can be cleaned with isopropanol or methanol lamp cleaner. Honeywell advises replacing the module if the lamp does not light or the sensor repeatedly fails calibration.
  • Automatic PID cleaning: When a MultiRAE with a PID is charging in a desktop cradle, truck mount, or AutoRAE 2 cradle (not the travel charger), the lamp runs for two hours to burn off contaminants, then the pump purges the gas plate. This reduces how often the lamp needs manual cleaning.

Always calibrate the instrument after installing a new PID sensor. Use 100 ppm isobutylene calibration gas with Teflon tubing for PID calibration and bump testing.

Compatible Instruments

  • Honeywell RAE Systems MultiRAE (PGM-6228), pumped
  • Honeywell RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro (PGM-6248), pumped

Not for the MultiRAE Lite. The pumped MultiRAE Lite uses the 1 to 1,000 ppm PID sensor C03-0912-003, and the PID is not supported on diffusion MultiRAE Lite units. MultiRAE Pro users who need parts-per-billion sensitivity can use the ppb PID sensor C03-0912-001 (10 ppb to 2,000 ppm) instead. Benzene-specific measurement requires the 9.8 eV PID sensor C03-0912-010.
