Product Overview

The RKI GX-6100 (SKU 72-61ABXX-C) is a sample-draw multi-gas monitor configured for the four confined-space channels plus a high-range photoionization detector (PID). This part number installs LEL / O2 / H2S / CO in the standard 4-gas block, a 10.6 eV PID (PID-002LA) measuring VOCs 0–4,000 ppm in smart-sensor slot 1, no sensor in smart-sensor slot 2, no thermal-conductivity (TC) sensor, and the Li-Ion battery pack with 100–240 VAC charger.

The GX-6100 replaces and extends the GX-6000 / GX-2012 generation: internal pump, two interchangeable smart-sensor slots, Bluetooth (RK Link), man-down and panic alarms, LED flashlight, and an IP-67 case. With this SKU you get five active gas channels (4-gas + one PID). A second smart slot remains open for a future PID, IR, electrochemical toxic, or MOS sensor if the application grows.

Sensors in this configuration (72-61ABXX-C)

  • LEL — catalytic (NCR-6309), 0–100% LEL (CH4 standard; other combustibles selectable)
  • O2 — electrochemical (ESR-X13P-OXY), 0–40.0% vol
  • H2S — electrochemical, 0–200 ppm
  • CO — electrochemical, 0–2,000 ppm (combo CO/H2S R-sensor block on 4-gas configs)
  • VOC / PID — PID-002LA, 10.6 eV lamp, high range 0–4,000 ppm (isobutylene calibration standard; library of 600+ VOCs with favorites / recent lists)

RKI’s price-list coding for this SKU: Step 1 = A (LEL/O2/H2S/CO), Step 2 = B (high-range 10.6 eV PID), Steps 3–4 = X (empty), Step 5 = C (Li-Ion + AC charger). Official suggested retail for 72-61ABXX-C is $3,455.00 (RKI Price List Book effective 02/17/2026).

What’s typically included

Per the GX-6100 operator’s manual and RKI instrument-includes list for this battery option:

  • GX-6100 instrument with installed 4-gas sensors and PID-002LA
  • Li-Ion battery pack (BUL-6100) and 100–240 VAC charger (RKI common-config text also lists this as a 115 VAC charger)
  • Rubber protective boot (20-0326)
  • Belt clip, wrist strap, tapered rubber nozzle
  • 3 ft Teflon-lined sample hose with probe (80-0006-03P)
  • PID lamp cleaning kit (included with 10.6 / 10.0 eV PID options per RKI price list; not with 11.7 eV)
  • Screen protector

Alkaline pack (BUD-6100) is not part of suffix -C; that pack ships with alkaline-only (-A) or alkaline+Li-Ion (-B/-E/-G) battery codes.

Key instrument specs (model family)

  • Sample method: internal pump, about 0.45 LPM; hose length up to 100 ft (longer not recommended)
  • Size / weight: about 2.6" W × 7.9" H × 2.2" D; about 17.6 oz (500 g) with Li-Ion pack
  • Runtime: up to about 28 hours on Li-Ion (full recharge about 6 hours); alkaline pack about 8 hours when used
  • Environment: −4°F to 122°F (−20°C to +50°C), 0–95% RH non-condensing; IP-67
  • Alarms: 3 adjustable gas alarm levels per channel, man-down, panic, low flow / sensor / battery / circuit / calibration trouble; audible ~95 dB at 1 ft, vibration, 5 LEDs
  • Approvals: IECEx / ATEX / cCSAus Class I Div 1 Groups A,B,C,D T4 (see current certificate for exact marking)
  • Warranty: 3 years material including R sensors; 2 years for IR and ESS sensors (per RKI price list)

Calibration and bump testing

RKI states typical calibration frequency is often between 3 and 6 months, adjusted for use and sensor type; bump before each day’s use is industry practice when the instrument is in service. The PID channel is normally calibrated to isobutylene. For this 4-gas + PID layout, a multi-gas cylinder that includes isobutylene (for example RKI blend 0484 style 5-gas) plus a demand-flow regulator matches the internal pump. The optional SDM-6100 docking station automates charge, bump, calibration, and data collection.

Limitations / what this SKU is not

  • Not the low-range 40 ppm / 40,000 ppb PID (that is smart-sensor code A / PID-001LA, e.g. 72-61AAXX-…)
  • Not benzene-specific 10.0 eV with pre-filter tubes (codes Z / PID-003L)
  • No second smart sensor and no TC % vol channel in this part number (both coded X)
  • PID response factors differ by VOC; select the target gas from the library and understand RF limits before quantitative work
  • Do not select MOS with PID in the same instrument; MOS readings appear only in Leak Check mode
